SipWith ("the App") respects your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights. We are committed to handling your data in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988, and where applicable, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2. Data We Collect

When you use the App, we collect and store the following:

• Account information: Your email address and display name, used for authentication and identification within the App.
• Wine data: Wines you add to your cellar, ratings, tasting notes, and drink window information.
• Taste profile: Your likes, dislikes, and profile summary generated from your wine history.
• Community contributions: Any wine knowledge you voluntarily contribute.
• Usage data: Basic request logs for security monitoring and rate limiting (IP address, timestamp).

3. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used to:

• Provide personalised wine recommendations and AI-generated tasting information.
• Sync your wine cellar and profile across devices.
• Enable social features such as group recommendations and the reviews feed.
• Improve the accuracy of AI responses through aggregated community data.
• Enforce rate limits and protect against abuse.

4. AI Processing

When you use AI-powered features (wine analysis, recommendations, drink windows, food pairings), your wine preferences and relevant data are sent to a third-party AI service (Anthropic) for processing. This data is used solely to generate your response and is subject to Anthropic's usage policies. We do not share your email address or account credentials with AI providers.

5. Data Storage

Your data is stored using Netlify's infrastructure (Netlify Blobs) and Firebase Authentication (Google). Data is stored in secure, managed cloud environments. We do not sell your data to third parties.

6. Data Sharing

We share data only in these limited circumstances:

• Social features: Your display name, wine ratings, and tasting notes may be visible to other users through the reviews feed and group recommendations.
• AI processing: Wine data (not account data) is sent to Anthropic for generating recommendations.
• Legal requirements: If required by law or to protect rights and safety.

7. Data Retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your profile data is marked as deleted and removed from active use. Rate limiting data is temporary and automatically expires.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access: View your data through the App (cellar, profile, settings).
• Export: Export your wine data as CSV through the App's settings.
• Delete: Delete your account and associated data through the App's settings.
• Correct: Update your wine data and profile at any time.

For EU residents, you additionally have the right to data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

9. Cookies and Local Storage

The App uses session storage to maintain your login state. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics cookies. The App may cache data locally through the browser's service worker for offline functionality.

10. Children

The App is not intended for use by anyone under the legal drinking age in their jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated through the App. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
